Château of Versailles

Versailles is among the most famous World Heritage Monuments and forms the most beautiful and complete construction of 17th century French art.

Louis XIII’s old hunting pavilion was transformed and enlarged by his son Louis XIV, who set up the Court and French Government seat here.

The Château was embellished by new apartments, decorated in the 18th century under the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI. The Monarchy had to leave from Versailles on October, 6th 1789, after the first days of the French Revolution.
