It has been inhabited for many generations by its owners.
A very well preserved site, Cheverny was one of the first châteaux open to public. It has been receiving visitors since 1922 when it first opened its doors to the public.
It is thanks to these visits that Hergé, the author of Tintin, who was in the region for a few days, was so impressed by the château that he took it as model to draw Moulinsart, Captain Haddock’s château.
